Thailand: Chavalit rejects red-shirt offer

Puea Thai Party chairman and former prime minister Chavalit Yongchaiyudh on Thursday rejected the offer to lead the 'people's army' of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, saying they already have leaders.

The former deputy director fo the Internal Security Operations Command, Gen Panlop Pinmanee, a member of the opposition Puea Thai Party, earlier said Gen Chavalit would lead the anti-government group.

"I think it's a misunderstanding. Gen Panlop may want me to help out and be part of the mass of people who love this country," Gen Chavalit said.

He said the red-shirts were not trying to create their own army, they were just gathering more supporters.

"I do not want to be a red-shirt leader since they already have people to lead them," Gen Chavalit said.

He said he had not spoken to Gen Panlop yet.

"The reason I returned to politics is to bring about peace in the country and I don't believe that former premier Thaksin Shinawatra would like me to be the supreme commander of the people's army," the political veteran said.

Fugitive ousted prime minister Thaksin posted a message on his webpage, saying people should not be panicked by the rumours of unrest.

He said army specialist and red-shirt supporter Maj-Gen Khattiya Sawasdipol, known as Seh Daeng, just wanted to warn the Democrat-led government not to suppress the people.

The people would use the truth to fight the government by peaceful means, he added.

Small Business owners are largely forgotten. Thats why I only focus on them. I have experience several members of my family file bankruptcy due to small business failures. I also I suffered through 2 destroyed businesses due to failure however, in my failings I have learned some of the secrets to success. (Who can say they know it all?)
